(Updated) It's official: Team USA has definitely picked themselves back up at the 2015 FINA World Swimming Championships in Kazan, Russia
Nathan Adrian, Ryan Murphy, Tom Shields and Kevin Cordes took the gold in the 4x100m Men's Medley Relay.
Ryan Lochte, Nathan Adrian, Missy Franklin and Simone Manuel set a new world record in the Mixed 4x100 Free Relay, winning the gold.
Adrian had a great day, earning a silver in the 50m free too, a fine finish in a cut-throat event. Franklin is back to her strong self earning individual and relay medals over the past couple of days. Matt Grevers earlier earned a silver in the 50m Back. Nice finish for him.
Katie Ledecky is basically the female equivalent to Lochte and Michael Phelps earning the most medals in one Worlds. She's the one to watch now after winning golds in all her individual events and breaking records in the 800 and 1500.
Earlier, Lochte's gold in the 200IM meant he became just the second swimmer in history to win the same event at four straight Worlds. Now he's won a whopping 17 golds, making him the second best swimmer in the world, behind Michael Phelps.
It's rare for athletes as experienced as Lochte to still excel after years of competing. But he showed us why he's still one of the most loved swimmers in the world, his versatility and determined-yet-chill demeanour winning fans everywhere.
The only shock came when the usually dominant men’s 4x200m relay team placed second behind Great Britain despite Lochte giving them the lead. Lochte is adamant that they will "not let that happen again.”
USA was first on the medal tally for awhile but it's the first time they didn't finish Worlds in the top spot. If the entire team continues with their intense training and can-do attitude, they should all be back on top of their game in Rio.
